General Description for 2021 Course

Spring/Summer Phase (April - August 2021):
Small groups will run from April to August 2021. Each small group will have two faculty and four trainees. Small group meetings will each be approximately 60-90 minutes and will be scheduled 2-3x's monthly using video teleconference and a web-based slide sharing site. Trainees will spend at least 2-3 hours per week working on assignments, reviewing course material, participating in small group meetings by teleconference, and attending webinars remotely.

Intensive Experience (July 19 - 22, 2021 -- Virtual):
2021 Trainees will be required to attend the intense portion of the course with a preliminary clinical trial protocol and informed consent document (developed during small groups). Trainees are expected to be free from clinical, teaching, and other professional responsibilities to allow for the refinement and finalization of their protocols. The schedule will take into consideration the virtual format.

Summer/Fall Phase (August - November 2021):
Small groups will run from August to November 2021. Trainees will spend a significant amount of time refining their trial protocol and grant proposal, and preparing for the Mock Study Section which will be held in November. Again, trainees will need to spend at least 2-3 hours per week working on assignments, reviewing course material, participating in small group meetings by teleconference, and attending webinars remotely. The intention is that this time after the residential course will be similar to what would already be needed in terms of preparing a trial protocol/grant proposal, but will be enhanced by the mentorship and structure of this course.
